Description
A long avenue bordered with magnificent trees forms the splendid approach to Torre del Falco, an imposing late 19th-century villa a few kilometres from the sea in the west of Sicily.
Built entirely of ancient stone, the villa is surmounted by the distinctive tower for which it is named, and surrounded by a magnificent garden planted with olive and citrus trees, palms and cypresses. There is also an exquisitely tended English lawn with a large swimming pool. ( 15x 8)
The gentle sound of water running into a small lake surrounded by papyrus and bamboo, completes the idyllic picture. Indeed at times, it’s only too easy to imagine you are in an enchanted place.The interior of the villa is decorated with a sophisticated mix of old and new, while at the same time being functional and comfortable.
The villa is laid out on two levels connected by a distintive stone staircase. Reception rooms and kitchen are on the ground floor, the bedrooms upstairs.
There is also a small independent cottage with 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms

Surroundings
Castelvetrano came to splendour in the 1700s and 1800s, as you can see from the great monasteries and churches of its splendid historic centre. It is now the main town of the Belice valley. A short distance away is the archeological site of Selinunte, the Belice nature reserve and the endless sands of Triscina ( 6 km) which are busy in summer but have lidos. The area holds numerous vineyards and olive oil producers where it is possible to organise visits and tastings.
In July and August, among the ruins of Gibellina, destroyed by an earthquake in 1968, the Orestiadi, an international festival of theatre, music, art and film, takes place.
Mazara del Vallo is a historic town whose centre is reminiscent of an oriental kasbah. It is famous for its magnificent Museo del Satiro Danzante and for restaurants serving couscous and spanking fresh fish.

With room for 12 people in the main house and 4 in the cottage, Torre del Falco is ideal for large groups of friends who want to spend a holiday together while preserving some independence. Indeed, within the same grounds, though totally independent, there are two further villas which together can sleep 8.
